EGG HARBOR, N.J. (March 3, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University women's bowling team improved two spots in the team rankings following competition Saturday at the Hawk Flight Invitational for Crohn's and Colitis Awareness Sponsored By Ebonite International at the King Pin Bowling Center.

FPU went 1-3 Saturday during traditional play to move their record to 4-5 on the weekend, but the Ravens knocked over more pins Saturday (4,528) than Friday (4.436) which led to a jump from seventh to fifth in the team rankings. Over the course of the season, the Ravens have amassed a 48-39 (.552) overall record.

No. 4 nationally-ranked Vanderbilt University is in first place with an unblemished 10-0 mark and a total pinfall of 9,626. No. 5 Sam Houston State University stands in second at 7-3, 9,196 pins and no. 6 Delaware State University rounds out the top three at 6-4, 9,137. Currently, the Ravens are only 131 pins behind no. 10 Fairleigh Dickinson University four fourth place.

Individually, the Crimson and Grey were led by sophomore Krysta Peirce (Casco, Mich.) who ranks sixth in the field of 110 bowlers with a 196.80 average.

Two of the three Raven setbacks came at the hands of ranked programs including a nine pin defeat to no. 16 Long Island University – Brooklyn. In their lone victory, a 952-804 decision against Belmont Abbey College, Peirce knocked down a Saturday-high 243 pins. She followed that up with a 201 frame against the bye.

Katey Comstock (Hartland, Vt.) and Erin Mastropietro (Mechanicville, N.Y.) rolled the only other 200+ strings Saturday for the Ravens. Comstock's 200 game came versus the bye where she rolled a 206 and Mastropietro rolled a 200 in the narrow defeat to LIU Brooklyn.

The Ravens hope to climb the standings tomorrow in the three rounds of best of seven baker matches.
