Women’s Bowling Goes 3-2 on Friday at N.J. Jambo

STRATFORD, N.J. (November 3, 2017) – The no. 22 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University women's bowling team traveled to the 30 Strikes Bowling Center in Stratford, N.J. for the first day of the New Jersey Jamboree on Friday afternoon.

The Ravens were 3-2 over their five matches Friday as they combined to roll over 4,337 pins. FPU's three victories came versus Howard University (886-850), Wilmington University (912-843) and Felician University (929-881) while both setbacks came against fellow nationally-ranked foes. On the year, the Ravens are 12-7 overall.

The team of sophomore Alexa Asta (Jackson, N.J.), senior Nicolette Vucak (Garfield, N.J.), senior Colleen Kelly (Quincy, Mass.), sophomore Krysta Peirce (Casco, Mich.) and senior Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) won all three matches. Their best score in the duel versus Howard was a 206 in the fourth game.

The five bowlers proceeded to rebound from the tough loss against no. 8 nationally-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson University and rolled the highest games of the afternoon in competition with Wilmington. Their highest total came in game two as the Crimson and Grey tallied a 224. They followed that up with a 212 in the third game and a 213 in the fifth and final string.

Sophomore Katey Comstock (Hartland, Vt.), freshman Skyler Mulligan-Brown (New Milford, Conn.), senior Brittany Hovan (Paramus, N.J.) also bowled a game with co-captains Kelly and Davies as they knocked over a team-high 185 during the first string versus no. 21 nationally-ranked Saint Francis (N.Y.) College.

Franklin Pierce heads back to the lanes tomorrow for the second day of the jamboree.
