Ravens Bowl in Impressive Fashion During ECC Championship Opener

KEENE, N.H. (March 24, 2017) – The no. 20 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University women's bowling team remained close to campus on Friday as they competed at and hosted the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships at the Yankee Lanes in Keene.

Franklin Pierce was 2-2 on Friday, but stand in first place with a total baker pinfall of 4,727 which averages to 189.1 pins a string. Rounding out the top three are no. 17 nationally-ranked Adelphi University who haven't lost a head to head contest (4-0) while knocking down 4,580 pins and Kutztown University is in third at 2-2 and 4,402 pins.

The Ravens two victories came against Lincoln Memorial University (W, 964-833) and #17 Adelphi (W, 1,043-948). The win versus Adelphi was the Ravens first time they've defeated the Panthers all season and it came off a day best 235 third game score as the Crimson and Grey manufactured seven strikes in the game. They also racked up nine games with scores over 200, four of them came in the final duel with Adelphi.

Freshman Alexa Asta (Jackson, N.J.) led the team in baker average on day one as she dropped 20.04 pins. Team captain Colleen Kelly (Quincy, Mass.) added a 19.57 average and freshman Krysta Peirce (Lenox, Mich.) rolled an 18.82.

Round two of the double elimination bracket begins tomorrow with the Ravens squaring off against Daemen College on lanes nine and ten with first roll set for 9:30 a.m.
