Women’s Bowling Travels to Vanderbilt for the Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 17, 2017) – The no. 20 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women's bowling team headed down south to Tennessee to compete in the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Smyrna Lanes.

Through day one on Friday, the Ravens went 2-3 and currently hold a 49-37 (.570) record on the year. The Ravens are in 26th place with a total pinfall of 4,321 which averages to 172.8 per match. Arkansas State leads the pack of teams in the top spot with a 4-1 mark and a pinfall of 5,084. McKendree (5-0, 5,049) and Fairleigh Dickinson (4-1, 5,005) round out the top three.

The Ravens two wins on Friday came at the hands of Bethune-Cookman (808-797) and Mount Aloysius (948-834). FPU notched their highest total score on the afternoon, a 220 mark versus Mount Aloysius. They also added a 203 in the same matchup.

Sophomore Sarah Busse (Commack, N.Y.) led all Raven bowlers in baker average as she combined to roll a 19.35. Team captain Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) chipped in an 18.26 average and fellow captain, senior Colleen Kelly (Quincy, Mass.) rolled an 18.15.
