Ravens, Davies Roll in Second Day of Hawk Flight

EGG HARBOR, N.J. (March 4, 2017) – The no. 20 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women's bowling team competed in the second day of the Hawk Flight Invitational at King Pin hosted by Monmouth University on Saturday.

In the middle day of the three day weekend, the Ravens went 3-2 as they improved their season record to 46-32 (.590) on the season. Combining Friday and Saturday, the Crimson and Grey are even at 5-5 with a total pinfall of 8,630 which is good enough for 12th place. FPU dropped one spot in the overall standings and only knocked down eight less pins compared to Friday.

No. 4 nationally-ranked Sam Houston State University remains in first place for the second consecutive day with a 9-1 overall mark and a pinfall of 9,723. No. 9 ranked Delaware State University improved their spot in the standings by two as they currently stand in second place at the end of the day on Saturday. No. 6 ranked Fairleigh Dickinson University dropped a spot from second to third.

Individually, Raven team captain Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) ranks within the invites top-20 as the 20th ranked bowler as she's racked up a team-high 941 pinfall across five games which averages to 188.20 per contest. Teammate Krysta Peirce (Lenox, Mich.) is in 38th place with a total pinfall of 855.

Franklin Pierce opened the day with a 937-881 victory against Felician University that saw Davies roll a day best 248 score followed by Sarah Busse's (Commack, N.Y.) 192 tally and Brittany Hovan's (Paramus, N.J.) mark of 184. The Ravens momentum continued into the second match of the day against Chestnut Hill (W, 801-777) as Davies led the team once again with a 176 followed by Alexa Asta's (Jackson, N.J.) 166.

Following two setbacks, the Crimson and Grey wrapped up the day victorious versus Duquesne by an 836-806 mark. Junior Nicolette Vucak (Garfield, N.J.) bowled a team-high 185 in the win while Davies racked up a 171 score.

The Ravens will open the third and final day of bowling tomorrow versus Duquesne.
