NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (February 28, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University bowling team finished eighth overall at the Hawk Flight Invitational, hosted by Monmouth University at Carolier Lanes. Playing in both the traditional style and in best-of-seven Baker matches, the Ravens went 0-3 on the final day of the tournament.

The Ravens opened play on Sunday against Long Island, in a traditional team match. Franklin Pierce dropped an 1135-961 decision to the Blackbirds. Sophomore Jessica Davies (Cape Coral, Fla.) led the way for the Ravens with a 266, while freshman Sarah Busse (Commack, N.Y.) rolled a 211.

Later, the Ravens dropped a total of 2,520 pins in 13 Baker games across their two best-of-seven matches, averaging 194 pins per game.

The first match was against No. 19 nationally ranked St. Francis (N.Y.). The Ravens took three wins in the match: winning game one, 198-179; game four, 246-202; and game six, 205-171. However, the Terriers were able to take the match by winning the other four games, including a 193-167 triumph in the decisive seventh game.

The Ravens met back up with No. 15 Kutztown in the seventh-place match to cap the weekend. Franklin Pierce put up two wins: taking game one, 226-194, and game three, 235-170. In the end, Franklin Pierce couldn't keep up with the Golden Bears, and fell in six games in the last match of the day, though the Ravens were outscored just 1171-1145 along the way. With the loss, the Ravens finished eighth on the weekend.
