Bowling goes 4-1 in successful first day at Hawk Flight Invite

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (February 20, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce bowling team came out firing on all cyllinders on Friday, as they went 4-1 in the first day at the Hawk Flight Invitational hosted by Monmouth University. The tournament's first day was Baker style scoring.

The Ravens opened up their day against Felician, a team they have seen much success against this season (5-1 overall). Franklin Pierce and Felician took each other to the limit, as the barnburner ended in a tie at 854. The Ravens took the tiebreaker for the win going into match two. The Ravens then faced New Jersey City, and took yet another win by a score of 776-642. In their third match, Franklin Pierce found themselves in the right side of the win column to take a victory by a final score of 882-809. To continue the dominance, the Ravens took their fourth straight match against Saint Peters by a final of 810-682.

Lastly, Franklin Pierce met up with the hosts, Monmouth University, in their fifth and final match of the day. Up to that point, both teams were undefeated at 4-0, and were looking to end their day a perfect 5-0. Unfortunately for the Ravens, the Hawks of Monmouth took the match, handing Franklin Pierce their first loss of the day by the score of 834-794. The loss led the Ravens to a 4-1 record for the day, putting them in second place going into day two tomorrow.

The Ravens will bring their dominance into day two of the Hawk Flight Invite tomorrow, February 21.
