NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (November 2, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce Ravens bowling team started their weekend on a tough note, going 0-5 on day one. A 3-3 split would ensue in yesterday's festivities, giving the Ravens momentum going into Sunday's Baker-format bracket round. The Ravens sang that note to the tune of a 2-1 record on Sunday, giving them a 16th place finish out of 24 teams at the FDU New Jersey Jamboree held by host Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The Baker style format brought the team together as one combined score in a best-of-seven games per match. Franklin Pierce took advantage of having been on the lanes for a couple days, and putting up solid team scores throughout the match.

The Ravens would first face Monmouth University, a team that they previously lost to on Saturday. However, the Ravens would not be denied, as the matchup slightly fell in their favor by a final of 4-2. The Ravens would bowl a cumulative 1,147 while Monmouth put up 1,132 in the barnburner. Franklin Pierce got off to a slow start, dropping the first game 176-140. From there, they would bounce back with a spectacular 249-216 win. That glory would last only a short while as Monmouth responded with a 172-160 win in game three. From there, the Ravens would fire off three consecutive game wins by scores of 169-162, 235-216, and 194-190 to take the match victory.

With the win, the Ravens would then find themselves faced off against Northeast-10 rival Adelphi, who previously defeated LIU Brooklyn in their previous match. The Ravens would not be phased, and would take a commanding 4-1 win over the Panthers. Franklin Pierce would score an overall 949, while Adelphi would come in under that with an 880. The Ravens came out strong by taking the first two games by scores of 224-170 and 180-157. Adelphi would not go down without a fight, as their only game win came in game three by a score of 179-160. However, Franklin Pierce came back with their knockout combo by shutting down the Panthers in games four and five by scores of 180-177 and 205-197 to send them into a matchup against Kutztown, a team previously faced in the tournament, for 15th place.

The clock would strike midnight on the Ravens against Kutztown, as the Ravens would be edged out by a final of 4-2. Only 38 points stood between both teams overall performance on the match, as the Kutztown would put 1,185 on the scoreboard to the Ravens 1, 147 total points. The Ravens would lose the first game 199-176 before tying things up 1-1 going into game three with a 205-183 win in game two. With things tied up, Kutztown would roll off two games in a row over 200 by scores of 223-199 and 213-203 to put the Ravens next to defeat. The Ravens would pull that rope back their way in game five, as Kutztown had a hard time putting away pins. Franklin Pierce would take the win 176-189 in game five, until the Ravens day would end in the loss column with a 198-188 loss in game six.

The Ravens will return to the lanes next weekend at the Hawk Classic Invitational hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore in Millsboro, Deleware.
