PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (November 11, 2017) – Senior team captain Jemma Thacker (Nairne, South Australia) recorded her second ever double-double with a career-high 26 points and 13 rebounds as the Franklin Pierce University women's basketball team erased a 19-5 first quarter deficit to defeat Holy Family University 56-47 Saturday evening at the Campus Center Gym. The win was the first of the season for the Ravens as they even up their record 1-1 overall while the Tigers remain winless at 0-2.

Thacker led all players in points, rebounds, and assists during the contest. She shot 58.8% (10-of-17) from the hardwood and 66.7% (4-of-6) from downtown. Her 26 markers bested her previous career-high set last year at Saint Anselm on February 1, 2017, and the 13 boards broke her prior mark of 12, which was recorded at Southern Connecticut State on January 21, 2017.

She came alive in the second half as she notched 19 of her 26 points in the final 20 minutes along with nine of her 13 rebounds. Thacker made 70.0% (7-of-10) of her shot attempts during the second stanza.

Classmate Kelsey Mayo (Oakland, Maine) was the only other Raven in double digits as she totaled 15 points to go along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Fellow senior Diondra Woumn (Lynn, Mass.) was active on the defensive end as she snagged eight boards, blocked a game-best four shots and came up with a match-high three steals.

Casey Thomas led the Tigers with 13 markers and added seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Alexis Hofsraedter poured in 10 points to go along with five rebounds, three helpers, and one steal. Franklin Pierce manhandled Holy Family in the post as they outrebounded (44-to-36) and outblocked (10-to-2) the Tigers.

Hofstaedter began the contest by hitting a jumper 15 seconds into the game. Mayo followed with a jumper of her own on the next possession. Casey Thomas split a pair of free throws and converted a layup to push the hosts ahead 5-2. With 6:50 left in the first, Hannah Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) knocked down a trey to tie the contest at 5-5. However, FPU would be held scoreless throughout the rest of the quarter as the Tigers rattled off 14 straight points to lead 19-5 after the first 10 minutes.

The Ravens dry spell finally ended 33 seconds into the second quarter when Everidge manufactured a layup to make the score 19-7 in favor of Holy Family. Thacker promptly cut the Raven deficit to single figures as she converted a three-pointer to make the score 19-10. The Tigers edge remained at nine as Thomas dished off the rock to Elizabeth Radley who sank a jumper to keep HFU in the driver's seat with 6:51 to go before the break. The Ravens kept on chipping away as they ended the quarter on an 11-2 scoring run capped off by a Mayo jumper with 26 ticks left to knot the score at 26 all at the games halfway point.

Thacker started the third quarter as she followed her own missed layup and tipped the rock in for the second chance points, which gave the Ravens their first lead since the opening frame. Four straight points from Mayo and Thacker gave FPU a four-point, 32-28 edge. Back-to-back Schweitzer three-balls moved the hosts ahead by two 34-32. Thacker then went on a personal 10-2 run of her own to close the quarter for the Ravens by draining two threes and pouring in two layups as FPU led by six, 42-36 at the end of three quarters.

A 7-2 binge by the hosts which was capped off by a Jada Smith three-pointer cut the Raven lead to two, 44-42 with 7:04 left in the contest. Freshman guard Sophia Holmes (Oakland, Maine) matched Smith's three-pointer with one of her own to push the Ravens ahead by two possessions at 47-42. Holmes' bucket was the start of a 10-0 Raven run that concluded when Thacker hit her final three to give the Ravens their largest lead of the game, 54-42 with 3:45 to play. Hofstadedter followed her own missed shot and completed the second chance bucket to cut into the Raven lead, but Thacker tallied the final points of the game with a layup for her 26th marker of the contest.

The Ravens remain on the road as they open Northeast-10 Conference play when they travel to Saint Anselm on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
