Women’s Basketball Bounces Back With a  79-63 Victory Against Le Moyne

RINDGE, N.H. (January 31, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce Women's Basketball team dominated on their home court against Le Moyne College. The entire squad contributed to the 79-63 victory on Saturday at the Fieldhouse.

Franklin Pierce advances to 9-6 in the Northeast-10 with an overall record of 11-6, Le Moyne drops to 14-7 overall, and 8-6 in the Northeast-10.

The Ravens secured a double digit lead for the remainder of the game with 13:05 to play in the first half, 18-8,  with free throws by Junior Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.).

Charette's free throws at 4:13 in the first would give the Ravens an 18 point lead, 36-18.  Senior Alex Marple tried to cut into the lead with a layup at 2:19 in the first, but freshman Diondra Woumn (Lynn, Mass.) answered back with a layup. Marple once again cut into the lead at 1:18 in the first half to bring the game within 16 points.  A pair of layups by Sophomore Allison Palma (Stamford, Conn.) followed by Sophomore Jasmyne Fogel (Bridgeport, Conn.) would give the Ravens a 20 point lead to head to the locker room, 42-22.

The Ravens shot 85.7% from the free throw line, while the Dolphins shot 83.3%. Charette had 10 points and 4 rebounds, while Fogel had 5 rebounds. Junior Dyamond Gardner (Cambridge, Mass.) passed off 5 assists with 4 points and 4 rebounds. Marple let her team with 15 points.

By 18:02 in the game, the Dolphins had cut the Ravens advantage to  17 with a three pointer by Senior Emily Greer, 44-27. Minute later at 16:48, Franklin Pierce was up by 23 with a layup by Palma, 50-27.

Palma's layup at 5:39 would give the Ravens a 28 point lead, their largest lead of the game, 71-43, however, the Dolphins would not give up. At the three minute mark, the Dolphins cut the deficit to 15 points with a three pointer by senior Tessa Pucello, 74-59.

Junior Vandell Andrade's free throws would bring the game within 14 points, 77-63, with 42 seconds to play. Sophomore Dana Campbell's (Merrimack, N.Y.) free throws seconds later would give the Ravens a 16 point victory, 79-63.

Alex Marple led the game with 29 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds. Vandell Andrade had 9 points and 10 rebounds with 1 assists. Senior Bath-Sheba McMahon, Emily Greer, and Tessa Pucello each had 8 points.

Kara Charette had 20 points with 8 rebounds, and 1 assist, followed by Allison Palma with 13 points and 2 rebounds. Graduate student Jessica Hurd (Kegworth, England) netted 10 points with 3 rebounds and 3 assists, while Dyamond Gardner had 7 rebounds and 7 assists with 4 points.

The Ravens hit the road to take on Saint Michael's Wednesday, January 4th in Conference play.
