Women’s Basketball Knocked by Adelphi  83-53


GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (January 29th, 2015)
–Junior Kara Charette 's (Fairhaven, Mass.) double-double was not enough as the Franklin Pierce women's basketball team fell 83-53 on Thursday night's Northeast-10 Conference contest against Adelphi University at the Center for Recreation and Sports.

With the loss, the Ravens fall 8-4 in Conference play, with a 10-5 overall record, while the Panthers advance 10-2 in Northeast-10 rankings, with a  17-2 overall record.

Junior Dyamond Gardner (Cambridge, Mass.) started the Ravens off strong with the first basket of the game. The last time the Ravens would hold the lead was at the 17:48 mark of the first half, 5-4, but the Panthers would grab the lead the next time down the court. The teams headed to the locker room with the scoreboard reading 45-19.

With 17:40 left in the game, the Panthers held a 34 point advantage, but the Ravens cut it down to 28 with Charette's free throw at 12:24, 64-35. The Panthers had an 81-42 lead with 5:37 to play, but the Ravens would cut the advantage to end the game at 83-53.

Graduate student Anh-Dao Tran led the game with 24 points with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and  3 steals. Sophomore Calli Balfour had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Freshman Janet Bracewell added 12 points and 4 rebounds.

Kara Charette grabbed a double-double with 10 rebounds and 12 points, Graduate student Jessica Hurd (Kegworth, England) also netted 12 points, while Dyamond Gardner added 9 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.

The Ravens are on their home court Saturday, January 30th to face Le Moyne at 1:30 at the Fieldhouse.
