Two Ravens Tally a Double-Double in Women's Basketball Overtime Win Against Saint Anselm
MANCHESTER, N.H. (December 6, 2014) - Shooting 87.5% from the free throw line, Franklin Pierce University women's basketball tallied a 67-63 overtime win against Saint Anselm Saturday afternoon at Stoutenburgh Gym. Two Ravens posted a double-double: junior forward Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass) with 23 points and 14 rebounds and senior forward Jessica Hurd  (Kegworth, England) with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
 
The Ravens stand 4-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play, and 6-2 overall, while Saint Anselm falls to 2-3 in Northeast-10 Conference play and 4-3 overall. 

With 19 seconds on the clock in overtime, junior Natalie Bastian (Branford, Conn.) would sink both of her free throws to give the Ravens a 65-63 lead, followed by Hurd's free throws with five seconds to play for the Ravens to tally a 67-63 lead.

The Ravens trailed by two with just over two and a half minutes to play in overtime, but a free throw by Charette, and two free throws by Hurd would give the Ravens a brief lead, 61-60.

Hawks sophomore Caitlyn Abela responded to the free throws with a three pointer ten seconds later. With less than a minute to play in overtime, a layup by Charette would tie the game, 63-63.
 
Although coming out strong for the start of the game, the Hawks took control of the game after the first two minutes of the first half, 6-5. Hawks would gain their largest lead of the first half with under fifteen minutes to play, 17-9. Franklin Pierce fought back to lessen the deficit and free throws by freshman Jemma Thacker (Aldgate, Australia) would tie the game 21-21 with six to play.
 

The game would be tied up two more times in the first half. Sophomore Jasmyne Fogle (Bridgeport, Conn.) would secure the lead for the first half with a jumper at 1:31 with 31-28 on the scoreboard. 

Charette had 10 points and seven rebounds on the board in the first half of the game, while Hurd had six rebounds. Franklin Pierce was 8-8 from the free throw line.  Sophomore Candace Andrews had 10 points on the board for the Hawks.

The Hawks had secured a five-point lead with less than 15 minutes to play in the game, 38-33, but a layup by Hurd would bring the Ravens within one basket, 43-41.

Bastian tied the game up, 51-51, with a free throw with 2:31 on the clock. Andrews' regained the lead with a jump shot, but Charette's layups brought the game back to a tie. 

A free throw by sophomore Kaila Duarte would give the Hawks a one-point lead, 56-55. With 34 seconds on the clock in the second half, senior Dyamond Gardner's (Cambridge, Mass.) free throw would tie up the game 56-56 to bring the game into overtime.

Raquel Johnson posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Candace Andrews had 18 on the board. Caitlyn Abela and Kaila Duarte had nine rebounds each.

Kara Charette had a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Jessica Hurd had 12 points and 12 rebounds, as well as three blocks. Dyamond Gardner had nine points, four rebounds, and four assists.

The Ravens are on the road this Tuesday for a Northeast-10 Conference game at 7:00 p.m. against Bentley.
