Knight, Hart Earn CSFL Weekly Awards
Duo keyed 18-16 upset win at Navy
RINDGE, N.H. (October 14, 2015) – Junior defensive back Brandon Knight (Bronx, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University sprint football team has been named Collegiate Sprint Football League Defensive Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday by the League office. In addition, sophomore defensive back William Hart (Amherst, N.H.) has been named CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week.
Knight led a smothering defensive effort for the Ravens in Friday's 18-16, upset win on the road at Navy. Of the team's seven interceptions, Knight hauled in four of them himself, and also broke up two more passes. He added four solo tackles along the way at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. On the season, Knight has 11 tackles (six solo), four interceptions, four pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
Meanwhile, Hart played a pivotal role on special teams for Franklin Pierce. He recorded a blocked punt deep in opposition territory, which was recovered by the Ravens at the Navy 1-yard line and immediately turned into a D.J. MacDonald touchdown rush. Late in the fourth quarter, after Navy had cut the gap to just two points, Hart was able to recover the ensuing onside kick on behalf of the Ravens to help cement the victory.
The Ravens return to the field on Saturday, Oct. 17, when they return home to host Army. Opening kickoff is set for noon at Sodexo Field in Rindge.
