Prior to her stop in Kentucky, Lillard spent time at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. and University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif., as an assistant coach at both Universities.

Lillard graduated from the University of West Alabama in December 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She was a varsity softball catcher on scholarship all four years including the 2009 season when the Tigers qualified for the Gulf South Conference Tournament. She won the 2007 National Championship as part of the ASA Women's Open Fastpitch Summer League in Southern California.

Including Union, Lillard facilitated youth softball camps at West Alabama, Redlands and Ozarks. Lillard received her Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in December of 2013.
