Softball’s Tricia Hansen Travels to Germany, Czech Republic with AIST

RINDGE, N.H. (August 12, 2015) – Rising senior pitcher Tricia Hansen (Mansfield, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University softball program represented her program abroad in the 2015 Prague Cup Tour from June 19-29, as she traveled to Germany and the Czech Republic with American International Sports Tours. The 10-day excursion saw Hansen’s team finish third in the tournament, while providing plenty of time for sightseeing for the players.

RINDGE, N.H. (July 28, 2015) – Six Franklin Pierce University student-athletes have been named to the spring 2015 Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Team in their respective sports, as announced earlier this summer by the Conference office. Women’s track & field saw juniors Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) and Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) selected, along with junior shortstop Justin Brock (Latham, N.Y.) from the baseball team, junior attack Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.) from the women’s lacrosse team, graduate student outfielder Jamie Wiley (Cape Vincent, N.Y.) from the softball team and sophomore Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) from the men’s track & field team. The selected Ravens were among 93 student-athletes across 10 sports honored by the Northeast-10.

RINDGE, N.H. (June 30, 2015) – Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Bruce Kirsh announced on Tuesday that Mike Pelland has been named the new head coach of the Ravens softball program. Pelland becomes the first full-time head coach in program history and will head up a team that is on the rise in the competitive Northeast-10 Conference. He is the program’s 10th head coach in its Division II era.

(May 11, 2015) – Graduate student Jamie Wiley (Cape Vincent, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University softball team bolstered her resume just a bit more, as she has been named to the Daktronics/Division II CCA Softball All-East Region Second Team as announced by Daktronics on Monday afternoon. The teams are determined through a vote by the region’s sports information directors.

(April 25, 2015) – Juniors Morgan Cahill (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Tricia Hansen (Mansfield, Mass.) each did their part to help the Franklin Pierce University softball team close out their 2015 season on a positive note, as the split a doubleheader against the Stonehill College Skyhawks by final scores of 5-0 in a loss, and a 3-2 win in their final game of the year at Gartland Field.

(April 23, 2015) - Freshman Cassidy Sorenson (Billerica, Mass.) collected six hits in two games, including four RBI with two home runs and two doubles in leading the Franklin Pierce University Ravens softball team completed a doubleheader sweep of the Saint Michael's College Purple Knights by final scores of 6-0 in game one and 18-5 in six innings in game two at Doc Jacobs Field.

(April 19, 2015) – Junior Courtney Caputo (Stony Brook, N.Y.) collected a team high five hits in two games on Sunday afternoon, but the offense left a total of 22 baserunners over the course of 14 total innings as the Franklin Pierce University Ravens softball team was swept in two games by the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights by final scores of 4-3 and 7-6 in non-conference play.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 15, 2015) – Graduate student Jamie Wiley (Cape Vincent, N.Y.) went 4-6 with a walk in two games, including a double and three RBI’s. But her effort couldn’t help solve any defensive woes, as the Franklin Pierce University Ravens softball team was swept in two by the Saint Anselm College Hawks by scores of 6-2 and 11-6. The Ravens committed nine errors on the day en route to the losses, eight of which occurred in game one.

(April 14, 2015) – Junior Mandi Adee (Kinderhook, N.Y.) only allowed one hit over five innings, while freshman Jenna Rodriguez (New Egypt, N.J.) gave up only two hits in two relief innings as the two pitchers didn’t allow a single run as the Franklin Pierce University Ravens softball team defeated the Saint Michael’s Purple Knights by a final score of 6-0 in Northeast-10 play at the Melissa Bisaccia Memorial Softball Complex on Tuesday.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 13, 2015) – Senior Alicia Dean (Danvers, Mass.) found her offensive groove on Monday afternoon, going 3-5 over two games with a solo home run. Despite the solid offense from the lefty first baseman, the Franklin Pierce University Ravens combined for only seven other hits combined over the two games as they were swept by the number 20 nationally ranked Southern New Hampshire University Penman by scores of 10-2 and 3-2 in eight innings at the Bisaccia Memorial Softball Complex.

Home run parade leads softball to doubleheader split at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. (April 12, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University Ravens put up a total of six home runs over two games, including a pair each from junior Erin Wood (Dover, N.Y.) and freshman Samantha Bonvino (Milford, Mass.). However, the Ravens game up a total of 24 hits and committed four errors on the defensive side as they were only able to muster one win in two games, taking game one 8-7 and dropping game two 12-9 to the Assumption College Greyhounds in a double header on Sunday. The games were played on the campus of Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
