SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (October 29, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University rowing team competed in their second race of the fall, the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Saturday morning.

The varsity 4+ A Boat placed 17th of 40 total crews, which was the best finish of the regatta for the Crimson and Grey. “We didn’t have the race we wanted in the Varsity 8+ said head coach Sarah Caruthers.” “However the team rallied in the Varsity 4 races finishing in the top half of the event despite a nasty wind. This is a rebuilding year for us, and we have built tremendous momentum in a short amount of time. I am so proud of these girls and excited to see what we can accomplish in the spring.”

The varsity 4+ A Boat team of Kyra Fairley (Kingston, N.Y.), Shelby Telga (South Deerfield, Mass.), Marykate Cullinane (Medford, Mass.), Rebecca Davies (Township of Washington, N.J.) and Grace Walker (Greenfield, Mass.) crossed the finish line at 15:24.49. The B Boat squad finished five minutes behind their teammates at 19:19.34.

Franklin Pierce also fielded a boat to compete in the varsity 8+ event as Fairley, Telga, Cullinane, Davies, Holly Hay (Miller Place, N.Y.), Sophia Alexandrou (Windham, N.H.), Kaitlin Morin (Raymond, N.H.) Jenna Chiavelli (Methuen, Mass.) and Walker finished the race at 15:17.2.
