Men’s Cross Country’s Summa Selected as NE10 Athlete of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. (September 20, 2022) -- Junior Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) of the Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Athlete of the Week, for the week ending on Sept. 18, as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.

Saturday was the season opener for the Ravens at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, and Summa got the season started in fine fashion. He lowered his own five-mile school record by more than 45 seconds and cruised home in 23:55, to win the 282-runner event by nearly a minute. Summa's performance led Franklin Pierce to victory atop a 35-school field.

Summa and the Ravens have this weekend off and then return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1, when they travel to SUNY Geneseo for the Mike Woods Invitational.
