USTFCCCA regional rankings

RINDGE, N.H. (September 19, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University cross country program currently has both its men's and women's teams ranked among the top 10 teams in the East Region, as announced on Tuesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Franklin Pierce is one of six schools in the East Region to currently have both its men's and women's teams regionally ranked.

The USTFCCCA ranks the top 10 teams in each region during each week of the season. The rankings released on Tuesday mark the first weekly rankings of the 2018 campaign. The methodology, per the USTFCCCA: "The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships."

On the men's side of things, the Ravens move up from a preseason ranking of eighth, and are now ranked sixth in the East Region. The jump comes on the heels of a fourth-place finish at the 41-team UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the women have notched the first-ever regular season regional ranking in program history, as they jump into the East Region rankings at the ninth position. The women's team posted a 10th-place finish, out of 45 teams, at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.

The Ravens are idle this week, and return to action on Friday, Sept. 28, when they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
