Men’s Cross Country Finishes Fourth at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (September 15, 2018) – Freshman Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) led three Ravens in the top 25 of a 295-runner field on Saturday, as the Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team finished fourth, out of 41 teams, at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. Fenoff finished in 12th, and was followed by sophomore Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) in 15th and junior Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) in 22nd.

Fenoff completed the 8k course in 25:25.6, which marked the fastest 8k time by a freshman in program history. He paced the effort on the day for the Ravens, as Arlabosse followed in 25:37.9, and Reed posted a time of 25:44.1.

"Riley Fenoff had an excellent race, further proving he's one of the best freshmen in the region," said head coach Zach Emerson after the meet. "Jason Reed had a massive personal best, as well."

The Ravens rounded out their scoring five with a 56th-place finish by sophomore Anthony Pizzo (Peabody, Mass.) and an 80th-place run by junior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.). Pizzo posted a time of 26:46.4, while Hayes crossed the line in 27:14.4. Junior Jeff Reddy (Chester, N.H.) finished in the top-100 as well, as he placed 98th (27:31.1).

It all added up to 183 points, which meant a fourth-place finish for the Ravens, who placed third among the Division II schools entered in the meet. Fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Southern New Hampshire (74 points) took home the title, while Division III Worcester Polytechnic Institute (87 points) finished second. Another NE10 school, American International (108 points) finished in third in front of the Ravens, while Division III Trinity (194 points) rounded out the top five.

"The men are headed in the right direction and we are excited to see the improvements they are making each week as a team," added Emerson.

After an off week, the Ravens return to action on Friday, Sept. 28, when they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
