Men’s Cross Country Competes at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON (October 7, 2017) – Freshman Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) led the way in 58th place on Saturday, as the Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team finished 21st (out of 27 teams) at the NEICAAA Championships at Franklin Park.

In all, Franklin Pierce tallied 557 points on the day, to finish between Fitchburg State in 20th (523 points) and Bentley in 22nd (583 points). Up front, Stonehill (119 points) took home the title, followed by MIT (124 points) in second and University of Massachusetts (133 points) in third.

"The men did not bounce back well after a relatively successful race last weekend at Lehigh," said head coach Zach Emerson after the meet. "This is the first time many of these young athletes have had to run back-to-back 8k races, and it certainly showed; they will be looking forward to a weekend off next week and will be recalibrating for the final push. This team can still do some special things come NE10s and NCAAs, as long as they can move past the disappointment of today's race."

For Arlabosse, it was an 8k time of 26:27.8 to lead the Ravens on the day, with his time being good for 58th in the 180-runner field. Sophomores Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) and Anthony Pizzo (Peabody, Mass.) were next for the birds, in 106th and 116th, respectively. Reed crossed the line at 27:18.1, while Pizzo finished at 27:32.0.

Sophomores Walker John (Boscawen, N.H.) and Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) were one behind the other, in 139th and 140th, to round out Franklin Pierce's scoring five at the meet. John turned in a time of 28:01.0, with Hayes right on his heels at 28:02.7.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21, when they travel to Westfield, Mass., for the NE10 Championship.
