BOSTON, Mass. (October 12, 2013) – Junior runner Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) placed 17th out of 279 competitors on Saturday to spark the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country team to a 12th-place finish out of 41 teams at the 2013 NEICAAA New England Cross Country Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

The Ravens were the highest placing Division II team in the race, as they finished with a score of 368 points. Franklin Pierce also finished ahead of 12 Division I programs. Central Connecticut State won the race with a score of 74 points.

Gisore turned in his top-20 finish in a time of 24:55, including an average split of 4:59 per mile. He was the third highest finisher from the Northeast-10 Conference in the race. Gisore has been the highest Raven finisher in all five races the team has competed in this fall.

Following Gisore was sophomore Makopa Rugabirwa (Concord, N.H.), who placed 49th in a time of 25:29. Classmate Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) was the other Raven to finish among the top-75 of the individual standings, as he turned in a 73rd place performance in a mark of 25:48.

The other two Ravens that counted towards the team total were a pair of rookies in B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) and Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.). Smith ran in a time of 26:12 to place 113th, while Holmes finished three spots back in 116th in a time of 26:16.

Saturday’s race marked the second-consecutive week the Ravens competed in a large field, which was loaded with numerous Division I programs. The event also kicked off the championship season for the Raven harriers, as they will next take part in the NE-10 Championship on Sunday, Oct. 27 in Manchester, N.H.
