4x800 Victorious, Men’s Track & Field Third after Day One of NE10 Championship

EASTON, Mass. (May 6, 2022) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team picked up a Northeast-10 Conference title in the 4x800-meter relay on Friday, on the first day of the NE10 Championship, hosted by Stonehill. Through the end of the first day, the Ravens are third in a nine-team field.

The 4x800 team was victorious in a time of 7:42. The all-sophomore lineup consisted of Evan McNeice (Wethersfield, Conn.), Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.), Ryan Outerbridge (Paget, Bermuda) and Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.).

In the sprints, the Ravens started things with a bang, as both sophomore Stephen Harris (Billerica, Mass.) and senior Devin Jones (Manchester, N.H.) qualified for Saturday's final in the 100-meter dash. The former ran 11.00 seconds to win the third heat, while the latter snagged the third and final at-large spot, at 10.95 seconds, as the runner-up in the fifth heat. Harris doubled up to qualify for the 200-meter final as well, as he won the second heat in 21.72 seconds.

In the 800 meters, Walker qualified for Saturday's final with a run of 1:58.02, which was good enough to win the first heat. At a much longer distance, it was a fourth-place finish in the 10,000 meters, as graduate student Sebastien Vicary (Ulceby, United Kingdom) chalked up five points with a run of 32:26.

It was a trio of point-scorers in the hammer for Franklin Pierce. Sophomore Sal Lando (Sterling, Mass.) took fourth at 44.95 meters, junior Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) was fifth at 43.71 meters, and senior Croix Albee (Trenton, Maine) finished eighth at 42.42 meters. Meanwhile, a pair scored in the javelin, as sophomore Brogan Bonsaint (Somersworth, N.H.) took fourth at 56.89 meters and Albee was seventh at 49.63 meters.

In the pole vault, sophomore Connor Nordmann (Bethel, Conn.) picked up a point by getting up and over 4.01 meters, to finish eighth.

With 33 points at the end of the first day, the Ravens are third, behind Southern Connecticut State (107 points) and American International (49 points). The NE10 Championship will wrap up on Saturday at Stonehill.
