Arlabosse Wins 600m, Men’s Track & Field Third Through First Day of Elm City Challenge

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (December 1, 2017) – In his collegiate debut on the track, freshman Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) of the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team posted a win in the 600 meters on Friday, highlighting the team's performance on the first day of the Elm City Challenge, hosted by Southern Connecticut State.

Franklin Pierce had five individuals score points on Friday at the Moore Field House. It added up to 21 points for the Ravens, which put them in third place, out of the five teams which scored on the day. Host SCSU led the way by a wide margin after the first day of the two-day event, with 74 points, and was followed by American International in second (28 points).

Arlabosse's winning time was a mark of 1:22.07, which allowed him to pick up 10 points. He was not the only Raven to score in the 600, as senior Joshua Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.) followed two seconds later in fourth place (1:24.25), to earn four points.

The Ravens also had a pair of athletes score in the long jump on Friday. Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) leapt 6.56 meters to open his sophomore campaign with a sixth-place finish to earn two points. He bettered his own teammate, fellow sophomore Jack Ehrhardt (Point Pleasant, N.J.) by just two centimeters, as Ehrhardt posted a jump of 6.54 meters to place seventh and tally one point.

Senior CeCe Telfer (Lebanon, N.H.) rounded out Franklin Pierce's scoring on the day after running a preliminary 55-meter dash time of 8.25 seconds to qualify in the fourth position. Telfer finished fourth in the final as well, picking up four points with a run of 8.16 seconds.

The Elm City Challenge will wrap up on Saturday at SCSU.
