Men’s Track & Field’s Minors Caps Career with Fifth-Place Finish in 800m at NCAA Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 26, 2018) – Running for the final time in his collegiate career, graduate student Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) of the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team turned in a fifth-place finish in the national final of the 800 meters on Saturday evening at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Johnson C. Smith University at the Irwin Belk Complex.

The fifth-place finish clinched the sixth and final All-America performance of Minors' illustrious career. He will be officially recognized with the All-America First Team honor by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association early next week.

Minors turned in the best 800-meter time of his collegiate career in his finale, as he laid down a mark of 1:48.53 for the fifth-place finish. He finished just shy of two seconds off of the winning time. As Minors already held the program record in the 800 meters, the time also established a new school record.

Thomas Staines, a sophomore from Colorado State-Pueblo, took home the 800-meter national title, with a time of 1:46.56.
