NEW LONDON, Conn. (April 13, 2018) – Despite only having select members in action, the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team opened defense of their Silfen Invitational title in style on Friday at Connecticut College.

With five elite distance events in competition on Friday, the Ravens collected wins in all three in which they had entries: the 800 meters, the 1500 meters and the 10,000 meters. Freshman Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) claimed the 800 meters (1:53.04), graduate student Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) took home the 1500 meters (3:52.22) and sophomore Jeff Reddy (Chester, N.H.) took first in the 10,000 meters (31:58.98).

Sophomore Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) added a top-five finish behind Reddy in the 10,000 meters, as he took fifth, with a time of 32:54.60.

Friday also marked the first day of the decathlon at the Silfen Invitational, with sophomore Jack Ehrhardt (Point Pleasant, N.J.) finishing first or second in four of the five events contested. Ehrhardt won the decathlon editions of the 100-meter dash (11.44) and the long jump (6.33m), while finishing second in the high jump (1.79m) and the 400 meters (52.87).
