Minors Shines for Men’s Track & Field at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 30, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team had a pair of student-athletes in action on Friday afternoon at the Florida Relays, hosted by the University of Florida. Graduate student Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) turned in a school-record performance in the 800 meters, while sophomore Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) competed in the 400-meter hurdles.

Competing in the first heat of the 800 meters, Minors laid down his fastest-yet collegiate time in the event, to finish seventh. He clocked in at a school-record time of 1:48.99, which is the second-fastest time in the country so far this season. The time met the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard, and was less than a quarter-second away from the automatic qualifying standard.

Meanwhile, Guay took to the track in the sixth heat of the 400-meter hurdles. He turned in a time of 54.82 seconds, which was good enough for a 32nd-place finish.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, April 7, when they travel to the CGA Spring Invitational, hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
