Arlabosse Hits NCAA Provisional Mark for Men’s Track & Field at BU Valentine Invitational

BOSTON (February 10, 2018) – On Saturday, it was the men's turn at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center. For the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team, freshman Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) returned to the track in style, as he laid down an NCAA Championships provisional qualifying time in the 800 meters.

Arlabosse's run was the highlight of the day at BU for the Ravens. His time of 1:52.33 was good enough to finish 22nd at the meet, while meeting the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. The time currently ranks fifth in both the Northeast-10 Conference and the East Region.

Franklin Pierce also got a pair of regionally-relevant marks in the high jump, as both sophomore Jack Ehrhardt (Point Pleasant, N.J.) and junior Robert Boardman (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) got up and over 1.90 meters. Ehrhardt finished tied for 11th, while Boardman tied for 13th. The height is good enough to tie for seventh in the NE10 and tie for eighth in the East Region.

One further significant mark at the regional level came courtesy of the 4x400-meter relay team, which featured sophomore Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.), freshman Colin Stoddard (Charlton, Mass.), Arlabosse and senior Joshua Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.). The quartet finished 30th, with a time of 3:23.20, which currently sits fifth in the NE10 and sixth in the East Region.

Behind Arlabosse in the 800 meters, Ercolini turned in a solid time of 1:56.44, to finish in 94th place. The time is good enough to rank Ercolini 12th in the NE10 heading towards championship weekend.

Elsewhere in field events, though it was not a season best, senior Rindal Pierre-Canel (Randolph, Mass.) put together a respectable mark in the triple jump. He tallied a hop, skip and jump of 13.50 meters, which allowed him to finish 13th.

The Ravens are back in action on Feb. 17-18, when they travel to the NE10 Championships, to be held at Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
