RINDGE, N.H. (July 26, 2017) – Senior Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) of the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team has been selected to represent his home country of Bermuda at the 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan, later this summer. Minors will compete in the 800 meters, which are scheduled to be contested on Aug. 26-28 at the 20,000-seat Taipei Municipal Stadium.

Minors is far and away the most decorated student-athlete in the young history of Franklin Pierce's track & field program. He is a five-time All-American, has represented the Ravens at nine NCAA Championships and is an 18-time Northeast-10 Conference champion. The World University Games, which offer Minors a chance to test his mettle against the world's best college athletes, will mark his seventh time representing Bermuda on the national stage. The level of accomplishment, and the work put into achieving it, is not lost on the Franklin Pierce coaching staff.

"It's only the best of the best who find a way to juggle their higher educational studies with their elite athletic training loads," said associate head coach Chris DeLeon. "Dage prepares day in and day out for big moments and big competitions.

Minors advanced to the final of the 800 meters at the NCAA Championships during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2016-17. He placed fourth at the indoor championships and eighth at the outdoor event, earning All-America honors on both occasions. Minors' season-best indoor time of 1:48.70 was the fifth-fastest 800-meter time in Division II history. Minors is excited just for the experience, but has his sights set on being competitive as well.

"I've never been on that side of the world, so I'm excited about that," said Minors of the trip to Taiwan, before noting how his time in Rindge has prepared him for the event. "I've been lucky enough to race in a lot of big meets while at FPU, and I've developed to the point where, most races I compete in, I feel I have a legit shot to win."

The meet's schedule, and eventually results, are available online here.
