Holmes Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors for Cross Country/Track & Field

CoSIDA cross country/track & field Academic All-District selections

RINDGE, N.H. (May 25, 2017) – Senior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University men's cross country and track & field team has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team, as announced on Thursday by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). As a result of the selection, Holmes will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

It is the third straight CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for Holmes.

Holmes currently sports a 3.82 grade-point average as a graphic communications major and competed across all three seasons for the Ravens in 2016-17. In the fall, as a member of the cross country team, he placed 139th at the NEICAAA Championships, with an 8k time of 26:56.4. During the winter indoor track season, he placed eighth at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships in the 1000 meters (2:36.05), and was also a member of a 4x800-meter relay team which finished 11th at the NEICAAA Championships (7:59.81). This spring, during the outdoor season, he ran the lead leg on Franklin Pierce's 4x800-meter relay team, which captured the NE10 title (7:39.02), and also placed fourth at the NE10 Championships in the 800 meters (1:54.25).
