Pierre-Canel Adds Fourth Career All-New England Honor for Men’s Track & Field at Second Day of NEICAAA Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (May 13, 2017) – As was the case on Friday, an All-New England performance by junior Rindal Pierre-Canel (Randolph, Mass.) was the highlight of the day on Saturday for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team, on the second and final day of the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Williams College.

Pierre-Canel's second All-New England performance of the weekend was also the fourth of his career and came in the triple jump, to go with his long jump performance from Friday. In the triple jump, he posted a hop, skip and jump of 14.08 meters, which was good enough for sixth place and earned three points for the Ravens.

In all, Pierre-Canel's two All-New England performances on the weekend gave the Ravens four points at the meet, which was good enough to tie for 29th out of 37 teams which scored at the NEICAAA Championships.

Franklin Pierce also competed in two other events on Saturday at the NEICAAA Championships. Individually, junior Martin Gradijan (Lebanon, N.H.) took part in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He finished in 16th place, with a time of 10:00.81.

Meanwhile, in the 4x800-meter relay, the Ravens put together a team which finished ninth, with a time of 7:54.52. The lineup consisted of freshman Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.), junior Joshua Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.), junior Adam Bryson (Lynn, Mass.) and freshman Walker John (Boscawen, N.H.).

The Ravens now wait for Tuesday evening's official selection of the field for the NCAA Championships. Senior Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) is expected to qualify in the 800 meters. The NCAA Championships will take place May 25-27 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
