Meet information

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 9, 2017) – Senior Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) of the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team will compete for a national title. On Thursday, at the Birmingham CrossPlex, he was victorious in his 800-meter heat race at the NCAA Championships, which allowed him to advance through to Saturday evening's final.

Running out of lane three in the third and final preliminary heat of the day, Minors posted a time of 1:52.38, which was good enough to win the heat by eight-hundredths of a second over Emporia State junior Thomas LaRoche (1:52.46). Minors' mark was the third-fastest time across all three heats, as he was bettered by only the top two runners in the first heat: St. Augustine's senior Immanuel Hutchinson (1:51.68) and Western Oregon junior Josh Dempsey (1:52.36).

The 800-meter final is set for 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at the Birmingham CrossPlex. With only eight runners advancing through to the final, Minors is assured to earn All-American First Team accolades in the 800.
