Bryson, Reddy, Smith All Pick up Wins for Men’s Track & Field at Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (February 4, 2017) – Junior Adam Bryson (Lynn, Mass.) in the mile, freshman Jeff Reddy (Chester, N.H.) in the 5000 meters and senior B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) in the 3000 meters were all winners on Saturday, leading the way for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team at the Wesleyan Invitational.

All three of the Ravens' wins on Saturday came in distance events. The shortest of the three went to Bryson in the mile, as he clocked in with a time of 4:38.05. In the 3000 meters, Smith took home first place with a run of 8:56.61. On the long end of things, Reddy turned in a 15:33.78 to come away victorious as well, in the 5000 meters. After conversion due to the size of Wesleyan's track, Reddy now stands 11th in the Northeast-10 Conference in the event.

Elsewhere on the track, the Ravens collected three of the top five spots in the 60-meter hurdles. Junior Craig Telfer (Lebanon, N.H.) finished third, with a time of 8.79 seconds, senior Mark Choiniere (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) was fourth, with a time of 8.87 seconds, and senior Daniel Warner (Windham, N.H.) took fifth, with a time of 9.04 seconds. Warner's time moved him into 20th in the NE10 on the year.

Franklin Pierce also had a pair of top-fives in the 60-meter dash, as well as one in the 1000 meters. In the 60-meter dash, sophomore Jaris Neville (Atlanta, Ga.) was third (7.20), followed by senior Cory Cataldo (Tewksbury, Mass.) in fourth (7.21). In the 1000 meters, senior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) placed second (2:41.54).

In field events, Cataldo also took home third place in the long jump, with a leap of 6.52 meters. Meanwhile, senior Alex Bonitto (Lynn, Mass.) finished eighth in the shot put, with a heave of 12.56 meters, which is currently good enough for 11th in the NE10.

On the relay front, the Ravens got top-three finishes from both their 4x400-meter and 4x800-meter squads on Saturday. The 4x800 team placed second in a time of 8:33.22, which ranks second in the Conference after conversion, with a lineup of Reddy, junior Joshua Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.), Holmes and Smith. In the 4x400, a quartet of junior Nicholas Jacques (Westfield, Mass.), Telfer, freshman Seth Davis (Farmersville, Texas) and junior Richard Finnegan (Bourne, Mass.) finished third, with a time of 3:38.25.

The Ravens return to action on Friday, Feb. 10-11, when they travel to Boston University for the David Hemery Invitational.
