Delahanty, Wooten Earn All-New England Honors for Men’s Track & Field on Final Day of NEICAAA Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 14, 2016) – Graduate student Andre Wooten (St. Charles, Mo.) took second in the triple jump and junior John Delahanty (Long Beach, N.Y.) placed seventh in the decathlon on Saturday, as each earned All-New England honors to lead the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team on the second and final day of the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State.

Wooten picked up eight points for the Ravens by putting together a hop, skip and jump of 14.57 meters, to place second in the triple jump. Delahanty added All-New England honors as well and earned two more points for the crimson and grey by tallying 5781 points, to finish seventh in the decathlon. The 10 points on Saturday made it a 12-point weekend for the Ravens, who finished tied for 19th out of 37 teams to score over the course of the two-day meet.

Elsewhere, Franklin Pierce had three athletes compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase on Saturday in the Elm City. Junior B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) led the way in 20th (10:01.40), and was followed by sophomore Martin Gradijan (Lebanon, N.H.) in 24th (10:08.67) and junior Dylan Crowley (Woburn, Mass.) in 25th (10:09.19).

Junior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) rounded out Franklin Pierce's participation in the New England Championships. He finished 23rd in the 1500 meters, with a time of 4:15.50.

Franklin Pierce will find out next week if any of its student-athletes have qualified for the NCAA Championships. The NCAA has the selection announcement scheduled for after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, via press release at NCAA.com.
