Ham, Holmes, Smith Compete for Men’s Track & Field at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA (April 28, 2016) – Senior Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.), along with juniors Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) and B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) represented the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team on Thursday at the prestigious Penn Relays, at Franklin Field.

Smith notched the most impressive mark for the Ravens on Thursday, as he competed in the College Men's 5000-meter Championship. He placed 55th, with a time of 14:50.08. The mark meets the NEICAAA Championships qualifying standard for the event and currently ranks second in the Northeast-10 Conference so far this spring.

Smith was not the only Raven to run in a 5000-meter event at Franklin Field, as Holmes took part in the Olympic Development Men's 5000 meters. Holmes would finish 26th, with a time of 15:09.89, which is currently good for sixth in the NE-10.

Meanwhile, Ham was the top Division II finisher in the College Men's 3000-meter Steeplechase Championship. He placed 21st, with a time of 9:19.56, which currently ranks second in the Northeast-10.

On Friday at the Penn Relays, the Ravens are scheduled to field a team in the College Men's Shuttle Hurdles Championship of America Invitational, while senior Vinny Biunno will compete in the College Men's Long Jump.
