Bird Named Sport Excellence Recipient; Seven Ravens Earn Spots on NE-10 Academic All-Conference Teams

RINDGE, N.H. (July 11, 2016) – Senior right-hander Tanner Bird (Adams, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been named his sport’s Sport Excellence award winner by the Northeast-10 Conference, as announced earlier this month by the Conference office. In addition, Bird, teammate and senior shortstop Justin Brock (Latham, N.Y.), women’s golf sophomore Anna Haynes (Hopedale, Mass.), men’s lacrosse junior midfielder Nick Bradshaw (Westbury, N.Y.), women’s lacrosse senior midfielder Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.), men’s track & field junior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) and women’s track & field senior Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) have all earned Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors. The selected Ravens were among a record 106 student-athletes across 10 sports honored by the Northeast-10.

RINDGE, N.H. (June 3, 2016) – Junior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) and senior Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) of the Franklin Pierce University track & field team have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team, as announced last week by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). As a result of the selection, both Holmes and Hyde will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

(May 28, 2016) – Graduate student Andre Wooten (St. Charles, Mo.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field team rounded out the 2015-16 campaign and his collegiate career on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Championships. In his final performance at the college level, Wooten finished 14th in the triple jump.

The duo led 10 Ravens to score points in individual events on Saturday, as Franklin Pierce finished fourth at the meet.

NEW LONDON, Conn. (April 16, 2016) – Senior Vinny Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) in the long jump, junior B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) in the 10,000 meters and graduate student Andre Wooten (St. Charles, Mo.) in the triple jump each won their events on Saturday, leading the Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field team to a second-place finish (of 17 teams) at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College. The Ravens accumulated 95.5 points at the meet, though they finished a distant second to Tufts (179 points).
