Third place finish sets new program best for Men’s Track and Field after final day at Northeast-10 Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 2, 2015) – Junior Vinny Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) and sophomore Cory Cataldo (Tewksbury, Mass.) each scored big on Saturday afternoon with multiple top finishes, while sophomore Dage Minors (Hamilton Parrish, Bermuda) took home a first place finish in the Men's 800 meter run in leading the Franklin Pierce University Men's Track and Field team to a program-best third place finish at the Northeast-10 Championships held at Southern Connecticut State University. The hosts, Southern Connecticut, would take the conference championship.

Minors finish in the 800 meter came with a time of 1:52.52 minutes, finishing over a whole second over second place.

Meanwhile, Biunno built off of his day one performance with more top finishes on Saturday, with his best finish coming in third in both the Men's High Jump and 110 meter hurdles. His placing jump came at a height of 1.90 meters, while his time in the hurdles was 14.78 seconds. Biunno would stake his name into fifth in the 4x100 meter relay team along with Cataldo, senior Kevin Sadoski (Glastonbury, Conn.), and junior Ryan Dionne (Amesbury, Mass.). The quad's fifth place finish came with a time of 43.01 seconds, collecting four points for Franklin Pierce.

Like Biunno, Cataldo would also place in the Men's 110 Meter Hurdles, finishing seventh with a time of 15.47 seconds and picking up two points. He also joined in on another relay team for the 4x400 meter relay, teaming up with Minors, freshman Josh Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.) and Nick Jacques (Westfield, Mass.) for a time of 3:19.86 that was good enough to take bronze in the event. Cataldo wrapped things up by grabbing four points and a fifth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.89 seconds.

In other Ravens action, junior Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) also put in a solid effort, grabbing 10 combined points on the day, capped by a second place finish in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase. His time in the Steeplechase was 9:30.45 minutes, while his second event, the 5000 meter run, came with a time of 15:18.32 minutes, for a seventh place finish.

Joining Ham in the 5000 meter run was senior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.), who bettered his teammate by finishing fourth in the event with a time of 14:52.92 minutes. Elsewhere, Dionne also put in a seventh place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.06 seconds. On the track, freshman Rindal Pierre-Canal (Randolph, Mass.) was able to grab a point for the Ravens with an eighth place finish in the triple jump, with a distance of 13.19 meters.

Junior Max Fanwick (Wilton, Conn.) and sophomore Alex Bonitto (Lynn, Mass.) each competed in the decathalon, finishing back to back in sixth and seventh on the leaderboard. Fanwick's top two finishes came in the 100 Meter Dash (Third Place) and 110 Meter Hurdles (Fourth Place), while Bonitto's bests came in the Discus Throw (First Place) and 1500 Meter Run (Third Place).
