Men’s Track tops board in multiple events at MIT Sean Collier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 18, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University Ravens Men's Track team put on a display of top performances on Saturday afternoon, as they competed in the MIT Sean Collier Invitational held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Ravens got five first place finishes, sported by Dage Minors (Hamilton Parrish, Bermuda) who had two, Colton Ham (Webster, Mass.), and Vinny Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.). Minors took home first place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.95, then later took first in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:58.93. Minors currently ranks fourth in the Northeast-10 in the event. Ham topped the chart in the 5,000 meters, with a time of 15:10.29, and Biunno took first in the long jump with a distance of 6.68 meters. The Ravens also got one from the 4x800 meter relay team, which put up a time of 8:11.63 minutes.

Senior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) finished second overall in the 1500 meters right behind Minors, with a time of 4:00.46. He currently ranks tenth in the Northeast-10. Sophomore Cory Cataldo (Tewksbury, Mass.) also did successful double duty, as he finished second in the long jump with a distance of 6.32 meters, while also competing on the track and coming in fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 55.98 seconds. His time in the hurdles currently ranks third in the Northeast-10.

Franklin Pierce also got a pair of third place finishes, courtesy of sophomores B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) and Dylan Crowley (Woburn, Mass.). Smith finish came in the 5,000 meters with a season-best time of 15:25.66, which ranks him seventh in the Northeast-10. Crowley's place came in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:06.73. His time was also a season best, and ranks him seventh in the conference.

Other notable Ravens finishes came from sophomore Mark Choiniere (Ballston Spa, N.Y.), freshman Rindal Pierre-Canal (Randolph, Mass.), and juniors Ryan Dionne (Amesbury, Mass.) and Mitch McNanna (Milford, Mass.). Choiniere collected a fourth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.19 seconds, which is a season best and ranks him ninth in the conference. Pierre-Canal found success on the field side of things, finishing fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.20 meters.

Dionne finished tenth in the 200 meters with season best time of 22.65 seconds, while McNanna also finished tenth in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 59.29 seconds. McNanna's time was a season best for him, and ranks him ninth in the Northeast-10 Conference.
