Sadoski leads flurry of top finishes for Men’s Track and Field at Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. (March 28, 2015) – Senior Kevin Sadoski (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored two solid finishes in both the 100 meter dash and 400 meter dash as the Franklin Pierce University Men's Track team competed in the Snowflake Classic held at Tufts University.

Sadoski posted a time of 11.45 seconds in the 100 meter dash, which is a personal best. His finish had him eighth overall, but ranked second out of all Division II competitiors and second in the Northeast-10. The same can be said for his finish in the 400 meters, as he ran a time of 54.44 seconds. He finished 18th overall in the event, but ranked second out of all Division II competitors, and now ranks fifth in the Northeast-10.

The Ravens also put up strong showings on the track thanks to the second place finish of the 4x400 meter relay team of freshman Josh Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.), sophomore Matt Carpenter (Gloucester, Mass.), sophomore Alex Bonitto (Lynn, Mass.), and sophomore Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.). The team ran a time of 3:41.52, giving them the second place competition.

Individually, both Holmes and Carpenter ran solid races of their own, as Holmes took a third place finish in the 5000 meter run, an event he ran for the first time collegiately.  His time of 15:44.70 currently ranks third among all Northeast-10 competitors. Meanwhile, Carpenter finished 19th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:15.14. That time ranks fifth among his Northeast-10 peers.

Junior Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) backed up his strong performance last weekend with a second place finish this weekend in the 3000 meters. His time of 9:01.95 was the top among Division II competition in the event. Joining in the Ham in the 3000 meters were teammates B.J, Smith (Concord, N.H.) and Martin Gradijan (Lebanon, N.H.). Both finished in the top 10, as Smith came home seventh with a time of 9:36.03, while the freshman Gradijan finished 10th with a time of 9:43.54.

Rounding out the action on the track was a ninth place finish from sophomore Dylan Crowley (Woburn, Mass.) in the 5000 meter run. He finished with a time of 16:10.88.

Not only did the Ravens get the job done on the track, but they received many strong field performances as well. The charge was led by junior Chris Bohi (Loudon, N.H.) who finished second in the javelin with a throw of 51.20 meters.

The other Raven finishes were a fifth place finish from sophomore Mark Choiniere (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) in the pole vault with a height of 3.70 meters. Sophomore Cory Cataldo (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished seventh in the long jump with a jump of 6.31 meters. Freshman Rindal Pierre-Canal (Randolph, Mass.) made it onto the board with an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 12.73 meters. Finally, sophomore Mark Josselyn (Halifax, Mass.) rounded out the action with an 11th place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 36.04 meters, which is a personal best in the event.

The Ravens return to action next Saturday, April 4 as they will compete in the AIC Invitational hosted by American International College in Springfield, Mass.
