Gisore Qualifies for 1500m Final at NCAA Championships

Minors to run in 800m on Friday

Gisore Gisore became the first athlete in program history to compete in the NCAA Championships on Thursday evening.

ALLENDALE, Mich. (May 22, 2014) – Junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) of the Franklin Pierce University men's track and field team ran a 3:52.63 in his heat in the 1500 meters on Thursday evening to qualify for the event's final at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Grand Valley State.

The time was good for fifth in his 10-athlete heat, as well as fifth out of 20 competitors across two heats on the day. The top four finishers in each heat, as well as the next four fastest times, advanced to Saturday's event final. The run was the first appearance in the NCAA Championships in program history, and Gisore now becomes the first Raven to qualify for an event final. The final in the 1500 is set for 5:35 p.m. on Saturday, May 24.

Freshman Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) will be in action on Friday for the Ravens, as he competes in his heat of the 800 meters at 6 p.m. in Allendale.
