FAIRFAX, Va. (March 2, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University men's track and field team sent its distance medley relay squad to the Mason Last Chance Meet at George Mason on Sunday afternoon in a final push to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The Ravens fielded a quartet of freshman Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda), freshman Matt Carpenter (Gloucester, Mass.), freshman Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) and junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.), which finished second in the three-team race with a mark of 10:15.92. While the time was good enough to meet the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard, it was not enough to usurp the 10:09.74 already on record for Franklin Pierce in the event. That time currently ranks 38th in the nation and will not be enough to qualify for the NCAAs.

As a result, the run at George Mason wrapped up the indoor season for the Ravens, who are scheduled to kick off the outdoor season on Saturday, March 22 at the BSU Bears Invitational, hosted by Bridgewater State in Bridgewater, Mass.
