Ravens have also qualified for five events Saturday

Minors Minors had the top finish for the Ravens on Friday by placing 17th at the New England Championships.

BOSTON, Mass. (February 28, 2014) – Junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) and freshman Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) both finished in the top 20 in the 800 meters on Friday at the first day of the NEICAAA Championships -- also known as the New England Championships -- held at Boston University Track & Tennis Center. The duo represented two of four appearances on Friday for the Ravens.

Minors led the way with the best Franklin Pierce finish of the day, as he placed 17th with a time of 1:54.61. Running in the same heat, Gisore was hot on his heels and finished 18th with a mark of 1:54.79, which was less than two-tenths of a second off of his season best. Freshman Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) was also in the 800 meters, as he checked in at 28th, with a time of 1:57.93.

Franklin Pierce also qualified for the New England Championships in the distance medley relay, though the Ravens sent out a different lineup from the one which captured the Northeast-10 Conference title in the event a week ago. On Saturday, sophomore Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.), sophomore Ryan Dionne (Amesbury, Mass.), freshman Matt Carpenter (Gloucester, Mass.) and sophomore Makopa Rugabirwa (Concord, N.H.) teamed to finish 17th with a mark of 10:33.04.

The New England Championships continue on Saturday at BU Track & Tennis Center, and Ravens are scheduled to compete in two more individual events: Gisore in the mile and freshman Cody Steed (Chichester, N.H.) in the triple jump. The Ravens will also field a team in the 4x800-meter relay.
