Abrams Posts All-New England Finish in 200m at NEICAAA Championship for Men’s Track & Field

4x100-meter relay scores top-10 finish

Abrams Abrams picked up the Ravens' second All-New England finish of the season with his 200-meter run on Saturday.

EASTON, Mass. (May 11, 2013) – Freshman Mike Abrams (Newark, N.J.) ran a 22.06 in the 200-meter dash on Saturday afternoon to finish fourth and earn All-New England honors for the Franklin Pierce University men's track and field team on the third and final day of the NEICAAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by Stonehill at W.B. Mason Stadium. Combined with four points from yesterday, Franklin Pierce finished the meet with nine points and tied for 23rd out of 37 teams to earn points at the New England Championship.

Abrams, who was third in his preliminary race on Friday to qualify for the 200-meter final, ran his fastest time of the season to post the highest NEICAAA Championship finish of the year for the Ravens, and earn the team's fourth All-New England accolade between the indoor and outdoor seasons. The fourth-place finish earned five points for Franklin Pierce.

In other individual competition for Franklin Pierce, junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.), who had an All-New England run in the 5,000 meters on Friday, finished 12th in the 1,500 meters (3:56.34), with a time which was over one second faster than is time at last week's Northeast-10 Championship. Freshman Adam-Corey Rander (Bronx, N.Y.) finished 17th in the triple jump (13.17m) and fellow freshman Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) placed 24th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:03.41).

The Ravens also had three relay teams run on Saturday. The best performance of the three came in the 4x100-meter relay, where an all-freshman team of Connor Rogowsky (Nashua, N.H.), Ryan Dionne (Amesbury, Mass.), Vincent Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) and Abrams ran Franklin Pierce's fastest time of the year in the event (42.54) to finish 10th. The time is the third-fastest run by a Northeast-10 Conference squad during the outdoor season.

Elsewhere, the same four men, though in a different order, finished 14th in the 4x400-meter relay (3:20.71). The lineup for that race was Biunno to Dionne to Rogowsky to Abrams. In the 4x800-meter relay, a team of freshman Chris Birotte (Lynn, Mass.), freshman Isaac Fithian (Kingston, N.H.), freshman Sean Colford (Epping, N.H.) and Gisore finished 18th (8:04.12).
