Ham Win in 3,000m Sets Pace for Men’s Track & Field at Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational

Ravens add two other top-five individual finishes

Ham Ham won the 3,000 meters for the Ravens at Stonehill on Friday.

EASTON, Mass. (April 26, 2013) – Freshman Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) ran the 3,000 meters in 8:39.09 on Friday afternoon to finish first in the event for the Franklin Pierce University men's track and field team at the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium. The Ravens collected 37 points to finish eighth in the nine-team meet.

Ham had plenty of company behind him in the 3,000, as he was the first of four Ravens to record points in the event. Behind the victor, freshman Chaz Munroe (Concord, N.H.) finished sixth (9:17.23) to earn three points, sophomore Eric Gallos (Ventnor, N.J.) finished seventh (9:19.39) for two points and freshman Chris Birotte (Lynn, Mass.) finished eighth (9:24.56) to pick up one point as Franklin Pierce tallied 16 of its 37 points in the 3,000.

Rogowsky was also a multiple-event point-claimer for the Ravens, as he added a point in the pole vault with an eighth-place finish (3.50m). Also in field events, freshman Sharaj Prince (Roseau, Dominica) recorded his best throw of the season to finish fifth in the discus (36.64m).

Elsewhere on Friday, three other Franklin Pierce student-athletes picked up individual points. Freshman Mitchel McNanna (Milford, Mass.) picked up six points when he took third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.55), with a season-best time which improved on his mark at Fitchburg State last week by over 2.5 seconds. Freshman Brad Dumais (Lowell, Mass.) added three points by placing fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:24.39) and freshman Shawn DeCost (Nashua, N.H.) came within two-thousandths of a second of his season best to finish eighth in the 100-meter dash (11.79) and earn a point to go with his relay contribution.

Meanwhile, Franklin Pierce also picked up six points by finishing third in the three-team 4x400-meter relay. With Franklin Pierce's top squad in Philadelphia running at the Penn Relays, a lineup of Kevin Sadoski to freshman Connor Rogowsky (Nashua, N.H.) to sophomore J.T. Trujillo (Derry, N.H.) to McNanna clocked in at 3:44.50.

Host Stonehill (245 points) posted a blowout win on the way to the team title, earning a 135-point margin of victory over second-place Bentley (110). Boston Univ. (104), Bryant (91) and Boston College (79) rounded out the top five.

The Ravens return to the track on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4, at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, hosted by American International at John G. Hoyt Track & Field Complex in Springfield, Mass.
