PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 26, 2013) – The Franklin Pierce University men's track and field team had teams compete in both the distance medley relay and the 4x400-meter relay on Friday afternoon at the prestigious Penn Relays, the oldest and largest track meet in the country. The announced crowd in attendance on the penultimate day of the meet was 39,700.

The distance medley relay was the first event on the docket for the Ravens on Friday. In the second of two heats, a lineup of sophomore Makopa Rugabirwa (Concord, N.H.), freshman Mike Abrams (Newark, N.J.), freshman Isaac Fithian (Kingston, N.H.) and junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) posted a time of 10:13.11 to finish 11th of 14 teams in the heat and 22nd of 27 teams overall. Franklin Pierce was the only Division II program to compete in the event.

Later, Gisore (50.8 seconds) and Abrams (49.9) ran the third and fourth legs, respectively, of the 4x400-meter relay, after freshman Vincent Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) (49.2) and freshman Adam-Corey Rander (Bronx, N.Y.) (48.8) ran the first two legs as the team posted a 3:19.70 to finish 48th out of 69 teams in the event. In the eighth of eight heats, the Ravens finished second out of six teams. The run shaved just under 3.5 seconds off Franklin Pierce's best time in the event so far during the outdoor season and is just 0.70 seconds off the NCAA Championship provisional qualifying standard. For the moment, the time is good for third in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The rest of the Ravens are also in action on Friday afternoon, as they compete at the Stonehill Skyhawks Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Mass. Full details on that meet will be available later.
