Ravens scheduled to run two relays Friday at Franklin Field

Gisore Gisore posted a 14:49.98 in the 5,000 meters on Thursday at the Penn Relays.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 25, 2013) – Junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) of the Franklin Pierce University men's track and field team participated in the 5,000 meters on Thursday night at the prestigious Penn Relays, the oldest and largest track meet in the country, to make the program's first appearance at the event.

The Penn Relays conducted two sections of the 5,000 meters for collegiate student-athletes on Thursday at Franklin Field, listed as the "College Men's 5000m Championship" and the "College Men's 5000m College". Gisore ran in the latter, clocking in at 14:49.98 to finish 23rd out of 31 runners in his event. Of 56 competitors between the two sections of the 5,000, his time ranked 44th.

It was only the second time Gisore has run the 5,000 meters during the outdoor season, and the time was over 30 seconds better than his previous effort. In addition, it was a shade over three seconds off his best 2012-13 indoor time of 14:46.84, which was run at the NEICAAA Championships on Feb. 22.

The Ravens are currently scheduled to send a pair of relay teams to the track on Friday at the Penn Relays. The distance medley relay squad is slated to run at 2:25 p.m., while the 4x400-meter relay is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
