Biunno Records All-New England Heptathlon Finish for Men's Track & Field on Day Two of NEICAAA Championship

Biunno became the second Raven in as many days to earn All-New England honors.BOSTON, Mass. (February 23, 2013) – Freshman Vincent Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) earned All-New England honors in the heptathlon on the second and final day of the NEICAAA Indoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by Boston University at BU Track and Tennis Center.
Biunno finished six among the 12 participants in the heptathlon, with All-New England honors going to the top eight. He piled up 4,656 points along the way, meeting the NCAA Championship provisional standard (4,600). Biunno finished third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.68), ninth in the 1,000 meters (2:45.80) and 10th in the pole vault (3.40m). Despite the ninth-place finish, his time in the 1,000 meters was good for 810 points.
Biunno was the only Raven to compete on the second day of the NEICAAA Championship.
The heptathlon finish earned three points in the team competition for Franklin Pierce, which also got two points on Saturday from junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) in the 5,000 meters. The five points earned the Ravens a 25th-place finish, out of 32 teams to earn points at the meet.
