Howard Powell Named Asst. T&F/XC Coach through NCAA Diversity Grant

RINDGE, N.H. (July 29, 2013) – Franklin Pierce University head track & field/cross country coach Zach Emerson announced on Monday that Howard Powell has been added to the program’s coaching staff as an assistant coach. The hiring was made possible after the Department of Athletics had recently received a diversity grant from the NCAA, which promotes the hiring of minority candidates to help create more career opportunities in intercollegiate athletics. The funding for the grant is good for one year.
Men's Cross Country/Track & Field Announce Incoming Recruiting Class for 2013-14 Season

(July 25, 2013) -- Coming on the heels of a spectacular inaugural season in 2012-13, the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country/track & field program and head coach Zach Emerson announced on Thursday the team’s incoming recruiting class for the 2013-14 campaign. The class features 65 new student-athletes who will look to continue aiding in the program’s rise to prominent status in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Northeast Delta Dental to Serve as Official Sponsor of the Inaugural Franklin Pierce Pearly Pond 5k Run

Men's Track & Field's Biunno & Ham to Compete this Week at 2013 Junior Nationals

RINDGE, N.H. (June 19, 2013) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field/cross country program will once again be on the national stage this week as two members of the program will take part in the 2013 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Vincent Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) and Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.), both rising sophomores for upcoming 2013-14 season, are the two Ravens competing in the event which will go from June 19-23 at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University.
Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Earn Nine USTFCCCA All-Region Awards

(May 24, 2013) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams capped a tremendous inaugural season recently as seven student-athletes garnered nine United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Outdoor All-Region awards. The men's group earned eight honors, while the women's team picked up an honoree.

Abrams Posts All-New England Finish in 200m at NEICAAA Championship for Men’s Track & Field

EASTON, Mass. (May 11, 2013) – Freshman Mike Abrams (Newark, N.J.) ran a 22.06 in the 200-meter dash on Saturday afternoon to finish fourth and earn All-New England honors for the Franklin Pierce University men’s track and field team on the third and final day of the NEICAAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by Stonehill at W.B. Mason Stadium. Combined with four points from yesterday, Franklin Pierce finished the meet with nine points and tied for 23rd out of 37 teams to earn points at the New England Championship.

(May 10, 2013) – Junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) ran a 14:45.56 in the 5,000 meters on Friday afternoon to finish fifth and earn All-New England honors on the second day of the NEICAAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by Stonehill at W.B. Mason Stadium. The meet is colloquially known as the New England Championship.

(May 4, 2013) – After winning three decathlon events on Friday, freshman Vincent Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) added two more triumphs on Saturday to finish off his Conference title in the decathlon on the second day of the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by American International at John G. Hoyt Track and Field Complex. In total, Franklin Pierce picked up 58 points to finish fifth in the 11-team meet.

(May 3, 2013) – The 4x800-meter relay squad of the Franklin Pierce University men’s track and field team turned in a 7:45.51 to finish fourth on Friday on the first day of the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by American International at John G. Hoyt Track and Field Complex. Meanwhile, halfway through the inaugural competition of the decathlon at the Northeast-10 level, freshman Vincent Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) leads the event after finishing first in three of Friday’s five disciplines. Through the first day, the Ravens have amassed seven points and sit eighth in the 11-team meet, which will conclude on Saturday.
Men’s Track & Field Competes in Pair of Relays at Penn Relays

(April 26, 2013) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s track and field team had teams compete in both the distance medley relay and the 4x400-meter relay on Friday afternoon at the prestigious Penn Relays, the oldest and largest track meet in the country. The announced crowd in attendance on the penultimate day of the meet was 39,700.

(April 26, 2013) – Freshman Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) ran the 3,000 meters in 8:39.09 on Friday afternoon to finish first in the event for the Franklin Pierce University men’s track and field team at the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational at W.B. Mason Stadium. The Ravens collected 37 points to finish eighth in the nine-team meet.

(April 20, 2013) – Junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) won both the 800 meters and 1,500 meters on Saturday afternoon, while freshmen Mike Abrams (Newark, N.J.) and Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) added wins as well, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University men’s track and field team at the Eric Loeschner Meet, hosted by Fitchburg State University at Elliot Athletic Complex. The Ravens collected 84 points to finish fourth in the 23-team meet.
Track & Field Announces Changes to Weekend Schedule
