Yuval Barak with Elite 24 Award

Men’s Tennis’ Barak Earns NE10 Elite 24 Award

Spring 2020 Elite 24 Awards

MANSFIELD, Mass. (May 12, 2020) – Senior Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya’akov, Israel) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team has been named his sport’s Elite 24 Award winner by the Northeast-10 Conference, as announced last week by the league office.

Per the NE10: “The Elite 24 Award honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site at each NE10 Championship. Due to the shutdown of spring sports because of the COVID-19 pandemic, no league championships were played [in the spring of 2020]. Instead, the Elite 24 Award winners were determined by comparing the GPA of all student-athletes throughout the NE10 on a sport-by-sport basis.”

Barak, an All-NE10 Third Team selection at fourth singles a year ago as a junior, put together a 4-6 singles record in the abbreviated 2019-20 campaign, including 2-6 at first singles and 2-0 at second singles. He paired with Preston Gordon in doubles play, where the duo played exclusively at first doubles and rolled to a 7-3 record.

The Ravens finished the truncated season at 5-5. The team had won its NE10 opener in February, before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
