Northeast-10 Conference Tennis Weekly Report (PDF)

RINDGE, N.H. (September 25, 2018) – Sophomore Roberto Chong (Puigpunyent, Spain) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, for the week ending on Sept. 23, as announced on Tuesday by the Conference office. In addition, freshman Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) has been tabbed as NE10 Rookie of the Week.

The duo helped Franklin Pierce to a 7-0 sweep of Post on Thursday, in the team’s only match last week.

Chong posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at first singles, after teaming with Nkrumah Patrick for a 6-3 win at first doubles. Meanwhile, Gordon notched a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles, after partnering with Yuval Barak for a 6-0 win at third doubles.

The two accolades mark the first NE10 weekly awards claimed by the men’s tennis team in 2018-19.

The Ravens return to the court on Monday, Oct. 1, when they remain home to host Eastern Nazarene in a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m.
