Men’s Tennis Downed at Colby, 7-2

WATERVILLE, Maine (October 9, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated on Sunday afternoon, 7-2, on the road at Colby in non-conference play.

Sophomore James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) had a hand it both of Franklin Pierce's points on Sunday, as he was victorious at both first doubles and first singles. At first doubles, he teamed with freshman Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) to squeak out a 9-8 victory over Colby freshmen Scott Altmeyer and Zale Shah. Later, at first singles, the match needed a tiebreaker third set, but Bisazza pulled out a 1-6, 6-4, 10-6 victory over senior Cam Hillier.

Meanwhile, Colby had 10 different players who saw action on Sunday, with just two Mules earning wins in both singles and doubles play: sophomores Sam Hoenig and Alexander Thrane. The duo teamed up to post an 8-2 win at third doubles. Later, Hoenig rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win at fifth singles, while Thrane swept to an 8-0 win at sixth singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Monday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Colby-Sawyer for a non-conference match at 10 a.m. to close out the fall portion of their schedule.
